For businesses operating in multiple countries, sending WhatsApp messages from a local number can boost trust and engagement. This article outlines how to use multiple numbers in one business unit for WhatsApp Marketing Cloud. We will discuss how to set up and manage your WhatsApp Business API (WABA), understand the limit of phone numbers per WABA, and how to name your channels effectively for easy identification within the system.

  1. Understanding WABA Setup: You can connect a single WABA to Marketing Cloud, incorporating all numbers, or you can create a WABA per region (AMER, EMEA, APAC) to manage numbers for those specific regions.
     

  2. Working with Number Limits: Currently, META has a soft limit of 20 phone numbers across the Business Manager. Should you need more numbers, contact Marketing Cloud support for an increase.
     

  3. Naming Channels: Each phone number is considered a channel within META. The display name for each channel is what will be visible when configuring a WhatsApp activity in Journey Builder. As the number itself will not be shown, it's crucial to use display names that are easily associated with the respective country.
     

  4. Changing Display Names: If you need to rename the display name for a number, please reach out to Marketing Cloud Support.
