Twitter/X Public API Access

Twitter/X was expected to revoke access to multiple public APIs, impacting multiple Salesforce services and features on October 31, 2023.

Affected Salesforce products and features include:

  • Agentforce Sales (formery known as Sales Cloud): The Social Accounts, Contacts and Leads feature can no longer connect to Twitter.
  • Marketing Cloud Account Engagement: Posting via the Social Posting feature is not possible, and engagement statistics cannot be retrieved.
  • Experience Cloud: Social Sign On via Twitter/X is no longer available.


This change does not affect integrations with Marketing Cloud’s Social Studio, Advertising Studio, and Intelligence products.
 

Solución

Sales 

  • Potential solutions may be available on the AppExchange if you want to continue showing social profile information in Salesforce

Marketing Cloud Account Engagement

  • Select another social media platform for social posting
  • Manually add tracked links to posts to continue to track prospect engagement within Account Engagement

Experience Cloud

  • There are three potential workarounds
    1. Create a new API client with Twitter/X. Once you have created the client you can update the Twitter/X Auth provider in your org with the appropriate Client ID and Secret
      • This will be the most seamless experience for your end users and should allow them to retain the link between their existing Twitter account and their user in Experience Cloud
    2. Select another social media platform for Social Sign On
      • Note: Ensure that you update your Auth Provider Registration handler to properly find existing users and link them to their existing users in Salesforce
    3. If your Community supports username/password login:
      • Advise your affected users that they will no longer be able to use Twitter/X to login
      • Send a Password Reset email to affected users to enable them to set a new password and login
