There are several Slack integrations or apps available for departments such as Agentforce Sales (formerly Sales Cloud), Agentforce Service (formerly Service Cloud), and Marketing Cloud as well as industry specific solutions.
Department or industry specific slack integrations or apps can be used alone or in combination with each other and the platform Salesforce for Slack App (the cornerstone of Salesforce for Slack apps). While the platform app isn’t required to use department or industry specific Slack apps, it's recommended to install it in order to take full advantage of all Salesforce and Slack features such as notifications, approvals and screen flows in Slack.
The Salesforce created Salesforce for Slack app requires admins to manually create flows in Salesforce whereas the Slack Apps for Departments and Slack Apps for Industries include pre-configured setup and configuration including flows that are designed to be implemented with Actions in Lightning Experience.
