What is the significance of enabling Data 360 in a Salesforce Org?
Data 360 serves as a central hub for your data ecosystem. When enabled on a Salesforce org, it can ingest and unify data from multiple sources. Enterprise-level data modelers and data architects can use Data 360 to establish a single source of truth (SSOT) for all business units across one or more Salesforce orgs. Selecting the right architecture before enabling Data 360 and connecting data sources requires thoughtful planning by your org. We strongly recommend planning your Data 360 strategy before you get started.

What should I consider when planning the Data 360 architecture for my Salesforce ecosystem?

To make an informed decision, consider these factors.

  • Review Your Data Needs: Assess your organization's data requirements, including data modeling, testing, and the need for separate environments.
  • Consider Future Growth: Contemplate how your data needs might evolve in the future and whether a single Data 360 for many Salesforce orgs aligns with your long-term objectives.
  • Consult with Experts: Engage with Salesforce's Customer Success Group (CSG) and partners for insights and guidance on Data 360 tenancy options.

If I have multiple Salesforce Orgs, should I set up Data 360 in all of them?
Where to set up Data 360, and how many instances of Data 360 you should set up, depends on your data architecture and data residency requirements.

  • Data Residency: To satisfy data residency requirements, consider creating one Data 360 per region. Use the region’s Data 360 in order to unify and enrich data from multiple orgs in that region without moving it outside of the region.
  • Control vs. Centralization Needs: Assess whether all orgs require complete control over their data and Data 360 configurations. If so, creating multiple Data 360s is advisable; otherwise, connecting multiple orgs to a single Data 360 allows you to centralize controls across those orgs.

Should I create a new Salesforce org for the Data 360 or enable it on an existing production org?
Consider whether it makes sense to separate Data 360 functionality and users.

  • Separation of Functionality: If you want to keep Data 360 functionality entirely separate, creating a new org is a suitable choice.
  • Coexistence: If you don't mind both existing Salesforce users and new Data 360 users sharing the same production org, you can add Data 360 to an existing org.

If you choose to create a new org on which to enable Data 360, you can do so in either of these ways.

  • Consult with Your Account Team : Reach out to your Account Executive or TAM for assistance and guidance on your options.
  • Self-Serve: Create a new trial org, then go to Your Account to upgrade it to an Enterprise or Unlimited Edition Org. Once upgraded, you can add a Data 360 Everywhere License to that org for free via Your Account.
