Troubleshooting the Account Engagement Sandbox-to-Production Flow

If you’re running into issues authenticating or copying assets and changes from Account Engagement sandbox org to your production org, review these troubleshooting tips and tricks.

IssuePotential CauseFix
You get an authentication error for a Named Credential or the Authentication Status stays Pending indefinitely.
  • The external client app has a configuration issue.

  • The wrong user is being used for authentication.

  • Edit the external client app and deselect Require Proof Key for Code Exchange under Security. 

  • Authenticate as the sandbox integration user.

After you select named credentials, the sandbox business unit dropdown is empty.The external client app is configured with the wrong OAuth scope.Edit the external client app and add the required OAuth scopes. See Set Up the Account Engagement Sandbox-to-Production Flow.

You receive this error:

access_token is invalid, unknown, or malformed: Inactive token

A named credential token expired.Edit the named credential and authenticate again as the sandbox integration user.

You receive this error:

Business Unit specified in Pardot-Business-Unit-Id header not found or inactive

  • The authenticated user doesn't have access to the business unit selected.

  • The sandbox URL is incorrect.

  • Verify that the authenticated user has access to the business unit selected.

  • Verify the URL for the sandbox org.

Copied file opens via storage.pardot.com instead of the tracker domainKnown bug when Asset Name doesn't include the file extensionRename the file to include its extension (e.g. .pdf) before copying.
Copying a Landing Page: destination Layout Template ignored, source template duplicatedWhen landing pages are copied to production, the source layout template is also duplicatedThis is expected behavior and doesn’t impact form layout or function.
