Marketing Cloud - WhatsApp-First Business Messaging (Meta) Transactions per Second (TPS) Increase

Marketing Cloud currently manages all outbound WhatsApp Messaging traffic to ensure sends don't result in the Error Code, 130429, due to rate limiting.

For any WhatsApp sends that result in the Error Code, 130429, please submit a Support Case to investigate further. 

The Meta Cloud API supports up to 80 messages per second (mps) by default and can be automatically upgraded to support up to 1,000 mps at the phone number level.

At this time, Support will only honor requests to increase TPS to 1,000 mps, only if your WhatsApp Business Account meets the following criteria:

  • Messaging Limit Tier: Unlimited
    • You can check this by navigating to WhatsApp Manager > Overview Dashboard > Insights within WhatsApp Business Manager
  • If your business phone number has a connected status, you can increase its messaging limit by either completing business verification, or opening 1,000 or more business-initiated conversations in a 30-day moving period, using templates with a high quality rating.
    • Messaging limits can be increased to the following limits:
    • 1K business-initiated conversations
    • 10K business-initiated conversations
    • 100K business-initiated conversations
    • An unlimited number of business-initiated conversations

Once you complete business verification or meet the messaging threshold, your business phone number's messaging limit will be increased to 1K, and can scale automatically after that.
Note that if your business phone number has a low quality rating, it may continue to be limited to 250 business-initiated conversations until its quality rating improves.

  • META have upgraded your phone number to a High Throughput category ( 1,000)TPS.
    • If you meet the below eligibility criteria , META will automatically upgrade your business phone number to 1,000 mps at no cost to you. Higher throughput does not incur additional charges or affect pricing.

Once you meet the above criteria , you will receive an email confirmation from META when your phone number is upgraded to High Throughput category (1,000)TPS.

Important: We support upgrading phone numbers at the Business Unit Or WhatsApp Account level. Hence ensure waiting until all phone numbers within the Business Unit Or WhatsApp Account are at high throughput before submitting a request for best performance of all phone numbers.

Lösung

If you have received an email confirmation from META, please submit a Support Case requesting this TPS increase from Salesforce with the following information:

  • WhatsApp Business Account ID(s)
  • All Phone Numbers within the WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) that need to be increased
  • The projected send volumes for each Phone Number
  • The Date/Time with corresponding Time Zone for when you wish the migration to take place
