Overview

Every company needs a CRM system to run their business and operations, and as a Salesforce Partner, you can manage your business through Agentforce Sales (formerly Sales Cloud) & Agentforce Service (formerly Service Cloud) or the Partner Business Org (PBO). The PBO is an internal use production org with 2 Sales & Service Enterprise Edition licenses and a number of pre-installed partner tools:

In addition to the 2 Sales & Service Enterprise Edition licenses, eligible partners can also receive additional licenses based on partner program and tier eligibility. Review the benefit page for your program to see what you’re eligible to receive.

Leveraging the Partner Business Org

For ISV Partners, the Partner Business Org enables you to publish and manage the sale and distribution of your app, as well as utilizing key partner technologies such as License Management (LMA), Channel Order App (COA), and Environment Hub.

For Consulting and Cloud Reseller Partners the Partner Business Org can help you manage leads, accounts, contacts, opportunities, as well as support for your own customers.

Accessing Your PBO

In order to receive the PBO benefit (2 Sales & Service Enterprise Edition licenses and the pre-installed partner tools) you must be a contracted partner in the Select Tier or above (Consulting), Exploration Tier or above (ISV), and Base Tier or above (Cloud Reseller).

Once you have met the eligibility criteria for your partner program, create a Help case and fill in the required information:

  1. For Subject, enter Requesting Partner Business Org (PBO).

When you are completing the case, please provide your company's billing address, billing contact, and the contact information of the person who can sign the contract. If you want to add your 2 free Sales & Service licenses to an existing org, please include that Org ID in your case to request a PBO. This org will become your PBO.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Partner Business Org (PBO)?

The Partner Business Org (PBO) is the org you use to run your business. As a benefit of being a Salesforce partner, you are entitled to 2 free Enterprise Edition Sales & Service licenses. Along with these 2 licenses, we also pre-load your PBO with tools like Checkout Management App (CMA), Channel Order App (COA), License Management App (LMA), Developer Hub, and Environment Hub. In addition to the above features, eligible partners can receive the following additional license in their PBO: Salesforce DX Limited Access Licenses, Scratch Orgs*, Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Licenses*, Apex Debugger*, CRM Analytics Growth*, and Commerce Portal*.

*Please refer to your respective program guides in the Partner Community for more information on eligibility for these additional licenses.

What are the requirements to receive a PBO?

  • AppExchange ISV Partners: Must be Exploration tier or higher.

  • Cloud Reseller Partners: Must be Base tier or higher.

  • Consulting Partners: Must be Select tier or higher.

If I'm a partner in multiple Salesforce Programs, does that I mean I get more than 2 free Sales & Service Enterprise Edition licenses?

No. Partners receive 2 free Sales & Service licenses across the entirety of their partnership. The benefit does not compound for being in multiple programs.

How do I request the Foundations license benefit?

To request access to the benefit, partners must log a case in Salesforce Help. Foundations will be provisioned on top of the PBO.

How do I request the Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Plus license benefits?

To request access to the benefit, partners must log a case in Salesforce Help using the same steps detailed above.

Do partners still need to purchase a direct license before adding paid add-on features to their partner benefit license?

No, partners no longer need to purchase a direct license to be able to add additional paid add-on features to their partner program benefit licenses. However, if the partner's program benefit license was provisioned prior to 11/15/2022, then the partner needs to open a case in the Partner Community to swap their current program benefit SKU with the new program benefit SKU. The new program benefit SKU is required first before paid add-ons can be added to the license.

I am an existing Salesforce customer. Can I use my existing org as my PBO?

Yes, with some exceptions. If you have an existing Sales & Service production org in Enterprise, Performance, or Unlimited Editions, we can add your 2 benefit licenses to that org. When you open a case to request your PBO, be sure to include the Org ID of the org. This org will then become your PBO. Please note that if your existing org is not an Enterprise, Performance, or Unlimited Edition org, then we will not be able to add the PBO benefit licenses to that org. We will need to either create a new org or you can contact your AE to upgrade your current org.

Can I split up my free license between different orgs?

No. We cannot divide your PBO entitlements. If you are eligible for one of the additional licenses, like Marketing Account Engagement, those licenses will also need to be a part of your PBO and cannot go into a separate org.

Can I add additional licenses/features to my PBO org?

Yes. You are able to purchase additional licenses/features for your PBO by working with your Account Executive. If you know your Account Executive, you can contact them to request a quote of the additional licenses.

If you do not know who your account executive is, please log a case in the Help portal to request an AE to contact you. When opening a case to purchase additional licenses for your PBO, please include your Org ID in the description and put the following in the Subject Line: “Please have my AE contact me to purchase Additional Licenses for our PBO”.
