Heroku handles all API requests originating from the Salesforce CPQ managed package within the designated Service Region in the CPQ Package Settings. Here is the path to access this package setting:
Setup > Installed Packages > Salesforce CPQ (configure) > Additional Settings > Service Region
Heroku also has an established rate at which API calls can be processed within each Service Region. The current Heroku API rate limit is 4500 calls per hour (Heroku API Limits )
When the rate limit reaches 4500 within the Service Region, which can occur when one or several organizations are processing calculations, this will result in the error "The system can't process API calls currently. Please try again in a few minutes."
API callouts are replenished and are made available for use at the designated rate.
The callout replenish rate was increased to facilitate a faster recover rate and reduce the frequency at which organizations encounter the API rate limiting error.
There may still be instances in which the API rate limit is exceeded. In such events, the workaround is to recalculate the impacted Quotes.
Revenue Cloud Support will work the organization making a high number of API requests to determine potential process improvements.
