Error 'Time Limit Exceeded' when attempting to Empty Org Recycle Bin

You may encounter an error message when you try to empty your organization's Recycle Bin:


Time limit exceeded
Your request exceeded the time limit for processing.

At times, they would also see:

Record Currently Unavailable 
The record you are attempting to edit, or one of its related records, is currently being modified by another user. Please try again.

Risoluzione

When the Org Recycle Bin contains a high volume of soft-deleted records, the standard empty operation times out. Support can manually purge the Recycle Bin using the BT admin tool after obtaining written customer approval.

The error occurs due to the org having a high count of soft deleted records, the Recycle Bin encounters an exception which does not allow the purge to complete.

Please log a case and ask Support to reference the internal information section of this article # 001040161. Please ensure an Administrator has provided permission for Support to manually purge your org's Recycle Bin.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Go to Recycle Bin 
2. Click on “Empty your Organization’s recycle bin” 
3. Wait a while and you will see that you’ll get the following error: 

Time limit exceeded 
Your request exceeded the time limit for processing.
