WHAT IS THE .mule DIRECTORY?

It's an internal repository for persistent storage. It contains persisted configuration information about the server itself and its applications. It also contains the persisted data from the applications.

WHO CREATED IT?

The Mule Runtime did, it needs it for its own working

SO TEMP FILES, CAN I GO AHEAD AND DELETE IT?

No. The Runtime needs these files for the proper working of it and the applications. If you delete these contents, functionality will be affected.

I HAVE UNDEPLOYED MY APPLICATION. WHY ARE THERE STILL FILE NAMES AFTER IT?

Persisted data tied to apps is not deleted when they are undeployed. If you undeployed to deploy a new application version, or just by mistake, you wouldn't like the data you were working with lost.

UNDER WHICH CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD I GO AND CHANGE FILES THERE?

Under usual circumstances, never. This is an internal directory and not designed to be customizable. You should only alter its contents following the instructions of our Support Team or a piece of our documentation. If you think you should change or delete some file here but are not following our advice, please reach out to us first.
