API Analytics Known Issues Article

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

This article explains current API Analytics known issues observed by a number of customers and reported to MuleSoft Support.

Typical issues observed are:

• Metric inconsistency:
  • API Manager vs Anypoint Monitoring dashboards and charts comparison
  • Client application statistics in Exchange
  • Anypoint Monitoring Basic Metrics View
  • Events Export API issues
• API Alert reliability (not limited to):
  • Alerts not triggered
  • Alerts delayed (more than 5 min from the moment the alert condition was met)
• API Analytics Custom Dashboard & Charts

CAUSE

API Manager API Analytics was introduced in 2014. Later, MuleSoft released Anypoint Monitoring with advanced features, improved accuracy, and wider support for different deployment models.
In most of the use cases, Anypoint Monitoring exceeds the capabilities of API Analytics.

The product team has decided to focus on improving and extending the functionality of Anypoint Monitoring rather than investing in the legacy product stack.

Taking the above into account, the existing known issues or newly observed issues may not be resolved in API Analytics and customers may need to start using Anypoint Monitoring as per the Solution and Recommendation section below.

SOLUTION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

MuleSoft recommends Anypoint Monitoring, for all analytics, monitoring, and reporting functionality.

The product team acknowledges there are features that are missing in Anypoint Monitoring or may not be available for all subscription tiers.
