QUESTION:  Is Mule Runtime in Docker supported by MuleSoft?

ANSWER: Yes. MuleSoft treats this configuration similar to other operating environments or systems which support Java: The configuration is supported, however MuleSoft does not currently test the configuration in-house, provide support for Docker itself, or provide instructions on how to run Mule in Docker. For those who want to know or learn more about Docker, there is a large Docker community, good Docker documentation as well as examples posted to Github and other web sources.
 

QUESTION:  Can I create my own Mule Runtime Docker images?   

ANSWER:  Yes, you can create your own Mule Runtime Docker images. MuleSoft does not provide instructions on how to create the images, however you can find guidelines and tutorials on the Docker documentation site, Github or other web sources.
 

QUESTION:  Can MuleSoft Support guide me on how to package Mule Runtime in Docker?

ANSWER:  MuleSoft Support does not currently provide general guidance for such configurations. Customers who would like further assistance deploying Mule Runtime in their own Docker instance can engage MuleSoft Professional Services. There are also many published examples on the web for running Mule in Docker which can be used as a starting point.
 

QUESTION:  Can MuleSoft Support help me with Docker-related questions?   

ANSWER:  MuleSoft support can only help with issues related to products built by MuleSoft. For help and guidance on Docker-specific questions and issues, please work with your IT/infrastructure team.
 

QUESTION:  I packaged Mule Runtime in Docker, but Mule fails to start. What can I do?  

ANSWER:  You might have issues with your packaging or with the network settings, device mapper or file mounts. You may file a case with MuleSoft, however, if it appears to be a Docker configuration issue we may ask you to reproduce the issue outside a Docker environment or refer you to the Docker documentation to check your configuration. 

QUESTION: I packaged Mule Runtime in Docker, but when deploying an application it fails to start. What can I do?

ANSWER: You should review your Mule log file and check for application deployment errors. Make sure that Docker is exposing the ports used by the application. You can also try to deploy the application in a standalone Mule Runtime to determine whether the issue is related to Docker or the application. For tips and techniques troubleshooting Mule, see the sections below on debugging the Mule Runtime.

QUESTION: I successfully deployed Mule Runtime in Docker and it works fine, however I ran into a specific problem.  Can MuleSoft Support provide assistance?

ANSWER: Yes, if you are a MuleSoft customer with a Support Subscription, please open a support case, and attach:  The Mule application, Mule log file, and Docker log file. Our Support team will be happy to assist. In order to help distinguish between Docker and Mule-related issues, we may ask you to reproduce the issue outside a Docker environment or refer you to the Docker documentation to check your configurations.

QUESTION: Will MuleSoft provide me with Docker images for running my Mules or a Docker license?

ANSWER: No. We do not distribute Docker images for Mule Runtime at this time.
