Considerations for Salesforce Maps Routes & Schedule Optimization

게시 일자: Aug 6, 2024
상세 설명

"When leveraging Salesforce Maps for optimizing routes and schedules, certain routes might seem illogical for specific scenarios. This can occur in situations that require door-to-door routing or visits that are geographically concentrated ('clustered')."

Here are some specific scenarios to consider:

  1. Use cases involving door-to-door or clustered deliveries are not suitable for optimizing routes on a single-day basis. Typically, the resulting routes may not consider this specific scenario, leading to paths that may not be the most logical or efficient for any given optimization method.
  2. The route generated is dependent on the pin's precise location as indicated by the record's coordinates. In certain cases, if the pin is positioned at the rear of a building and there's an accessible road, the system may calculate that the quickest path to the pin is via this rear route. This behavior is by design. However, on the uncommon occasions when this happens, we suggest utilizing the 'Set Verified Location' feature to manually move the marker to the building's front, aligning it with the main access point for more accurate routing.“
  3. When examining the optimized route for either single-day or multi-day trips, it's important to take into account the initial and final destinations. Often, you may notice that the route begins in one region, shifts to a different area, and then circles back to the starting point. Such routing results are influenced by the specific nature of the route, past traffic trends, and the structure of the roadways.
  4. When using the “Add to Schedule” functionality in the Maps Schedule Week View, if no Schedule Priority field is designated in your Maps Base Object configuration, records will be considered by the optimization engine in the order they are presented in the “Unscheduled” list. The Scheduling engine will consider if each entry in the list can be accommodated within the user’s available time frame for the days specified for optimization. As such, different waypoint combinations may result from each optimization run. Generally speaking, we can't guarantee visits to every location within an optimization due to the wide spectrum of variables possible within the data used for the routing problem, and this is currently working as designed.
