Uppgift
How to remove the "Abc" placeholder text from a crosstab view.
Steg

All of these options are demonstrated in the attached workbook.

Option 1: Use the Tableau Table Viz Extension in your workbook

  1. In a worksheet, on the Marks card, expand the Mark type dropdown menu.
  2. Under Viz extensions, select Add Extension.
  3. Select "Tableau Table" (https://exchange.tableau.com/products/1041), select Open
  4. Tableau Viz Extension is used by adding fields to "Details" on the Marks card. It does not have the "Abc" placeholder that is typically used to denote where marks are placed.

More learning materials on Viz Extensions are found here.

Option 2: Place the last dimension on the Text

  1. Drag a second copy of the last dimension on the Rows shelf to the Text on the Marks card
  2. Right-click on the last dimension on the Rows shelf and uncheck Show Header

Create a placeholder field

  1. Select Analysis > Create Calculated Field
  2. Name the field Blank, enter the following formula, then click OK
    " "
  3. Place this new "Blank" dimension on the Text mark

Change the mark color

  1. Right-click the Abc text in the view and select Format.
  2. Change the pane color to a color that matches the background (e.g., white).
  3. Click the shading icon and decrease the banding size for rows to eliminate row banding.

Note: the video has no sound.

Ytterligare resurser

By default, Tableau uses "Abc" placeholder text for any values that could potentially be displayed. In cases where you are using only dimensions or discrete values, Tableau leaves the empty column with the "Abc" placeholder text.
