How to edit connection details for published data sources that are not available in the Edit Connection dialog, such as the custom SSL certificate file for a Hortonworks Hive connection.

Trin
For a data source that is embedded in a published workbook, use the following steps:
  1. In Tableau Desktop, open the published workbook from the server.
  2. On the Data menu, select the data source, and then select Edit Data Source.
  3. On the data source page, right-click the connection and select Edit Connection.
  4. Update the connection details, and click Sign In.
  5. Navigate back to a worksheet or dashboard, and then republish the workbook.

For a data source that is published separately:
  1. In Tableau Desktop, connect to the published data source.
  2. Download a local copy: On the Data menu, select the data source, and then select Create Local Copy. A duplicate of the data source is added to the Data pane.
  3. On the Data menu, select the local copy of the data source, and then select Edit Data Source.
  4. On the data source page, right-click the connection and select Edit Connection.
  5. Update the connection details, and click Sign In.
  6. Navigate back to Sheet 1, and then republish the data source.
