Encrypting Athena Query Results

How to configure an Amazon Athena connection to encrypt query results.

Follow the steps below:
  1. Create a text file to record properties called athena.properties.
  2. Save the file to the My Tableau Repository\Datasources directory.
  3. Add a key-value pair:
    •  S3OutputEncOption=<Option Name> where <Option Name> is the encryption protocol to be used. For example, for server-side encryption with an Amazon S3-managed key, the key-value pair would be S3OutputEncOption=SSE_S3
  4. If the value used for Step 3 is SSE_KMS or CSE_KMS, add another key-value pair to set the S3OutputEncKMSKey property of the KMS key ARN or ID to use for encrypting data.
  5. Save the file.
