Option 1: Using a Measure to Control Bar Thickness

  1. On the Marks card (for the Bar marks), drag a field like MIN(Number of Records) onto the Size shelf.

    • This provides Tableau with a value to adjust the bar thickness.

     

  2. Drag the Size slider all the way to the right to make the bars thicker.

 

Option 2: Converting the Date Field

 

  1. Change your date field from continuous to discrete.

  2. Once the date is discrete, adjust the Size slider to increase the bar thickness.
