LBLM is automatically enabled when a Tableau Server product key has the LBLM flag configured which is the current default behavior when purchasing or updating a product key.
It is possible to confirm the product key(s) have the LBLM flag enabled by viewing TSM Licenses list or in the TSM UI. It is also possible to view the LBLM enabled flag by using the Tableau Customer Portal. See the information in this article to Identify license details for Tableau Server using the Tableau Customer Portal.
If the Tableau Server product key(s) do not have the LBLM flag enabled, please contact your Tableau Account Team to review your account. Select Sales in the Contact Us website if unsure the name of your Tableau Account Executive.
Note: When using LBLM, ATR should be enabled/configured appropriately to avoid the licenses expiring unexpectedly.
