Add Dynamic Whitespace to a Dashboard

Publiceringsdatum: Apr 13, 2024
Uppgift
How to create whitespace on a dashboard that will disappear under certain conditions.

For example, on a dashboard using a sheet selector, a floating element at the top of the dashboard may look fine when Sheet 1 is selected to show, but looks crowded when Sheet 2 is selected to show. Therefore we want to add whitespace to the top of the dashboard only when Sheet 2 is selected.
Steg

The attached example workbook uses the sample data set Superstore to demonstrate the following instructions:

Create the Blank Worksheet

  1. Create a new worksheet with a name like "Blank Worksheet"
  2. Create a calculated field with a name like "Blank" with a calculation similar to the following:
    ""
  3.  Drag [Blank] to the Columns shelf and to Text on the marks card
  4. Resize the worksheet to the desired amount of whitespace
  5. Right-click on "Blank" in the view and select Hide field labels for columns
  6. Right-click on one of the lines in the view and select Format
    • In the left-hand Format pane, do the following:
    • Click on the Borders button, which looks like a grid
    • For Row Divider, for pane select None
  7. Click on the "x" in the upper right to close the Format pane
  8. Drag [Sheet Selector Calculation] to the Filters shelf
  9. In the Filter dialog, check Sheet 2 and click OK

Update the Dashboard

  1. Drag the worksheet "Blank Worksheet" onto the dashboard where whitespace is desired
  2. Right-click the title "Blank Worksheet" on the dashboard and select Hide Title
