How to troubleshoot common issues with Tableau Reader.

If you receive the following error:

Errors occurred while trying to load the workbook "<Workbook Path>": The load was not able to complete successfully
This file was created by a newer version of Tableau. Please contact Tableau Software to upgrade your version. 
Download the latest version of Tableau Reader. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Reader.

If you receive the following error: 
Tableau Reader can only open packaged workbooks (*.TWBX). See the Help documentation for more information. 
You might be trying to open a .twb file rather than a twbx file. Ask the person who sent you the file for a packaged workbook. For more information, see Packaged Workbooks.

If you receive the following error: 
Errors occurred while trying to load the workbook "<Workbook Path>". The load was not able to complete successfully. 
Unknown data source class '<name>' 
The packaged workbook was created with connections to data sources Tableau Reader cannot open. Ask the person who sent you the file for a packaged workbook with extract data sources. For more information, see Packaged Workbooks
