How to roll back to an earlier version of Tableau Desktop or Tableau Prep Builder.

In order to roll back to a previous minor or major version, the previous version must be selected from the Tableau Download site and installed.  Then, the current version can be removed if desired.  There is no automated way to roll back a version with Tableau Desktop or Tableau Prep Builder.  Vote on the Community Idea to have an automated procedure to roll back a version of Desktop or Prep Builder.
For Tableau Desktop:
1. Understand the version currently being used by opening Tableau Desktop and selecting Tableau > About Tableau.  The exact version will be listed at the top such as "2023.1.2".
2. Go to the Tableau Download site and select the previous version desired.  Once the version is selected, there will an option at the top of the screen to at the top of the screen to Download Tableau Desktop. Download the version selected.
3. Install the version desired by following the prompts or reviewing the Online Help.
4. Remove the unwanted version as instructed in the Tableau Online Help.
 

For Tableau Prep Builder:

Perform the same steps as listed above except visit the Tableau Prep Builder release site to find and download the version desired.
