Converting a Published Extract to a Live Connection

Option 1

1. Log in to Tableau Server
2. Select Data Sources.
3. Select the desired extract to be converted.
4. Under the data source name select "Data is Extract" 
5. Change to "live"

Option 2

1. Log in to Tableau Server.
2. Select Data Sources.
3. Select the desired extract to be converted.
4. Select Download.
5. Open the extract in Tableau Desktop.
6. In the Data pane, right-click the extract and clear the Use Extract option.
7. Republish as live

Option 3

1. In Tableau Desktop, open a workbook which uses the published extract as a data source.
2. In the Data pane, right-click the extract and select Create Local Copy.
3. Select Data > Replace Data Source.
4. Replace the extract with the local copy.
5. In the Data pane, right-click the extract and clear the Use Extract option.
