Task
How to convert Excel serial number displayed on Tableau to date field.
Steps
Use DATE function to create a calculation field like below to convert excel serial number to date field in Tableau

+ date range:  1900/1/1 - 1900/2/28

DATE( INT([Excel Date Number Field] ) - 1 )

+ date range: 1900/3/1 -   

DATE( INT([Excel Date Number Field] ) - 2 )

 
Additional Resources

Tableau treats 1900/1/1 as 0, while Excel treats 1900/1/1 as 1.
There's no value for 1900/2/29 in Tableau, but it is 60 in Excel.
