Descripción

When attempting to connect to MySQL database version 5.x from Tableau Desktop with the latest MySQL ODBC driver 8.x, the following error may occur:

Error Code: DAFFF161 [MySQL][ODBC 8.3(w) Driver] Access denied for user 'Tableau-user@IP-Address' (using password: NO) Invalid username or password.

Cause

The MySQL ODBC driver (8.X) and the MySQL database version (5.X) are incompatible.

Solución

To connect to an older version (5.x) of MySQL database, install the MySQL ODBC driver version 5.2.7 and connect using Other Databases (ODBC) with Tableau Desktop.
