Error "Check that the server is running and that the URL is correct. [...]" When Connecting to Tableau Server from Tableau Prep under Proxy Environment

Tableau Prep is unable to connect to Tableau Server and the following error might occur:

 

"Check that the server is running and that the URL is correct. If this host is using the http protocol, make sure to include "http://"" in the URL."

Løsning
Add the actual hostname or IP address into the Exceptions of Proxy settings.
  1. From Windows Control Panel, go to Internet Options.
  2. Go to the Connections tab, and click LAN settings.
  3. Click Advanced of Local Area Network (LAN) Settings.
  4. Add the actual hostname or IP address into Exceptions field.
Please note that IP address ending with the * (wildcard) won't be effective when Tableau Prep connecting to Tableau Server.
