Beskrivelse

Access denied error 0x80070005 when trying to install Tableau Desktop. Install is being run as an administrator and antivirus is disabled.

Installer Logs show:

Error 0x80070005: Failed to secure cache path: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\
Error 0x80070005: Failed to secure cache directory: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\
Error 0x80070005: Failed to create completed cache path for bundle.
Error 0x80070005: Failed to cache bundle from path: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\{0FD956AA-474D-4CEC-A0A8-07EC8759AC1E}\.be\tableau-setup-std-tableau-2018-2.18.1009.2120-x64.exe

Løsning

Work with your IT team to ensure that both the Administrators Group and the specific User have 'Full Control' permissions to the "C:\ProgramData\Package Cache file location\". Then try to run the Tableau Desktop installer as an Administrator.
