Tableau Desktop does not start when its shortcut icon or a Tableau workbook is double-clicked on Windows. No error message appears.
Additionally, a debug.log file may be generated.
This issue may occur because of one of the following reasons:
If the troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, please create a Support case and include the following information:
1. Windows Event Viewer log files collected just after trying to launch Tableau Desktop. See Windows Event Viewer Log Files for instructions on how to collect these log files.
2. Date and time when you tried to launch Tableau Desktop to generate the Windows Event Viewer log files. The date and time helps us find the section of the logs when the issue occurred.
3. System Information report
a. Press the Windows Key and the R Key (Win+R) at the same time.
b. In the Open box, type msinfo32 and click OK.
c. When the System Information window comes up, click on File and select Save.
d. Click the Save button to save the file as an NFO file to your Desktop.
