Incorrect Page Orientation Exporting to PDF with Tabloid or Ledger Pagesize

When exporting to PDF under the following conditions, the page orientation may not appear as expected:

Ledger page size and landscape layout
Tabloid page size and portrait layout

 

Cause

Tableau offers two sizing options with the same 11 x 17 paper size, but different default orientations: ledger (portrait) and tabloid (landscape). We treat the default size as portrait layout size. So for ledger-portrait you see a layout of 17 x 11 (scaled appropriately), and for ledger-landscape, we transpose these, meaning you will see 11 x 17 layout.

  • For 11 x 17 (portrait) layout, choose ledger page size and default layout.
  • For 17 x 11 (landscape) layout, choose tabloid page size and default layout.
