Error "NO_POOLED_AGENTS_CONNECTED" Refreshing Tableau Bridge Extracts

Description

When refreshing extracts using Tableau Bridge, the following error occurs:

NO_POOLED_AGENTS_CONNECTED"

Cause

These errors are typically caused by one of the following reasons: 

  • The Tableau Bridge client has become disconnected.
  • There are too many concurrent scheduled jobs running which exceeds the default maximum amount of refreshes for a given Bridge client to run.
Résolution

Option 1

Ensure the Tableau Bridge client is running and the status shows "Connected". If the client shows a red indicator and "Disconnected" status, try the following tasks, in the order listed:
  1. In the client menu, click Repair.
  2. If step 1 doesn't resolve the issue, from the Mode drop-down menu, select Application and wait a few seconds. Switch back to Service mode and wait a few more seconds.
  3. If step 2 doesn't resolve the issue, restart the machine. Make sure that there are no scheduled refreshes that are in progress.

In some cases, the client shows a red indicator and "Disconnected" status if the client is running on a machine that is "locked down." This means that the client is restricted to connecting to a minimum set of domains. Option 2

Increase the connection pool limit.  If 10 or more refresh jobs are attempting to refresh around the same time, it is possible that the default maximum value of 10 is being reached. To increase the connection pool limit, see Manage the size of the Bridge pool for more information. 

Option 3 

Add additional Bridge clients to the pool.  Adding additional Bridge clients to the pool helps reduce the possibility of a failure and distributes load across multiple clients to improve performance. For more information, see Configure pooling.

Option 4

Check that the Tableau Bridge machine's clock is sync'd with an NTP server.

You can confirm if the client is disconnected by navigating to the Setting page and the Bridge tab in Tableau Cloud.  Check the status of the client there, or by logging into the Bridge machine and opening up Bridge and performing the steps in the Tableau Online Help for confirming the status on the local client.
