Upgrade failed with the following message:

C:\Users\hluser\Desktop>"C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server\packages\scripts.<version>\upgrade-tsm"

Upgrading Tableau Server to version <version>. See log file at d:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server\logs\app-upgrade.log

Install directory d:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server

Config file: "d:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server\data\tabsvc\config\workgroup.yml"

Verifying that the upgrade script was run from the correct environment.

Failed verification. Please ensure the upgrade script is run from a new command prompt window after installation.

Error occurred during installing.

Detected the old version of Tableau Server takes precedence on the system PATH.

Cause

This issue stems from running the upgrade script in an old command prompt and the old command prompt has an old PATH environment variable that points to the previous version of Tableau Server. 
Решение

Option 1

Open a new command prompt window and run the script again.

Option 2

Run upgrade-tsm again after restarting Windows OS.
1. tsm stop
2. restart windows OS
3. re-run upgrade-tsm

Option 3

Confirm if excessive entries exist in System Environment Variables. This can be done by searching for Environment Variables in the Windows Start Menu.
