Essbase 'An error occurred while communicating with data source'

After connecting to Essbase, when tables are dragged into a view, the following error is thrown:
 
DataSourceException (type=Unknown): Essbase database error 1042006: Network error [10061]: Failed to connect to [<database_name>:1423]\n"}

Cause

This behavior originates in an Oracle defect related to creating and dropping sets,
or
the network setting such as firewall blocking access.
Løsning

Option 1

Work with the IT/Network administrator to make sure there are no firewall rules or other pieces of intervening network hardware that time out the connection.

Option 2

Roll back to an earlier version of Essbase.

Option 3

Upgrade Essbase to Patch Set Update 11.1.2.4.025
