Issue

When attempting to connect to Amazon Athena, an unexpected message occurs:

 

"The request signature we calculated does not match the signature you provided." 

 

Cause

This behavior is caused by a known issue from Amazon where special characters in the Secret Access Key are not properly being read. (see https://github.com/andrewrk/node-s3-cli/issues/21)

 

Løsning

Regenerate the Secret Access Key following the steps here: Where’s My Secret Access Key?   

Note: The key will need to be regenerated until it contains no special characters (only numbers/letters).
