Tableau Desktop is unable to connect to MySQL referencing lack of drivers even though the driver has been installed:
MySQL ODBC requires Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) and Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio. Please see: Installing Connector/ODBC on Windows
Please make sure your Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) are up to date. You can obtain the latest version from Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)
Make sure the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio ( VC++ Runtime 2015) is installed.
use the 64-bit version (marked by “x64” in the package's title and filename): https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads
If 1,2 doesn’t work, uninstall and reinstall the latest driver: https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/ (Windows, 64-bit, MSI).
If 3 doesn’t work, uninstall the 8.0 driver. Install 5.3.13 driver from here: https://downloads.mysql.com/archives/c-odbc/
