After a backup failure, the following error might occur; 

Failed to enable backuprestore and/or databasemaintenance
com.tableausoftware.tabadmin.webapp.exceptions.ServiceOperationTimeoutException

Additionally, when checking the status of backuprestore and databasemaintenance processes, both processes are found successfully enabled and up running.

Cause

An anti-virus software is preventing TSM from retrieving the correct status of backuprestore and databasemaintenance processes.
Решение
Exclude Tableau Server folders from anti-virus scanning. By default, the folders are located here:
  • C:\ProgramData\Tableau\Tableau Server
  • C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server
