Blank Tableau Server Sign In Dialog When Using Self-Signed Certificate

Julkaisupäivä: Mar 3, 2025
Kuvaus

When trying to sign in to Tableau Server from Tableau Prep Builder, the Tableau Server Sign In dialog is blank.

Cause

The Chromium component of Tableau Prep Builde uses the subjectAlternativeName extension (not commonName) to match the domain name and site certificate.

Ratkaisu

Use one of the following workarounds to publish the output as a data source to Tableau Server:

Option 1

Replace the self-signed certificate with a trusted certificate.

Option 2

Instead of publishing the data sources directly to Tableau Server, create the extract files and then publish them using Tableau Desktop. For more information, see:

Option 3

If using a self-signed certificate, ensure that the certificate contains subject alternate names. For instructions on creating such a certificate, see How to Create a Self-Signed SAN Certificate Using OpenSSL on a NetScaler Appliance
