Error "There was an error with the data source <datasourceName>. Verify that the data source is configured correctly." Refreshing Workbook Containing Published And Embedded Extracts

Дата публикации: Feb 21, 2025
Описание

When attempting to refresh a workbook containing both published extracts and embedded extracts, the following error occurs:

"There was an error with the data source <datasourceName>. Verify that the data source is configured correctly."

Cause

Some of the published data source may be set to Prompt User instead of Embedded password. This will cause the workbook refresh to fail because it does not have permission to access the published data source which it connects to.

Set Credentials for Accessing Your Published Data
When you publish a workbook that connects to a Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server data source, rather than setting the credentials to access the underlying data, you set whether the workbook can access the published data source it connects to. Regardless of the original data type, the choice for server data sources is always Embedded password or Prompt users.
Решение
To resolve the issue, republish the workbook using Embedded Password for all published and embedded connections in the workbook.
  1. Open the affected published workbook in Tableau Desktop. See Open a published workbook from the server for steps.
  2. Republish the workbook and ensure all data sources, including published are set to Embedded Password. See Set Credentials for Accessing Your Published Data for more information.
