When creating an extract in Tableau Desktop for a published extract, the following error might occur:

"Internet communication error: transferred a partial file (<server name>). Unable to Create Extract"

Løsning
  1. Create a local copy of the published data source by right-clicking the published data source in the Data pane, and then selecting Create Local Copy.
  2. Create the extract with the local copy, instead of the published data source by right-clicking the local copy, and selecting Extract Data.

There isn't a limit on the number of rows when creating the extract, however, it can be resource intensive and if the resources on the machine creating the extract can't handle it, it may error out.

The other possible workaround are:

  • Consider limiting the complexity of the extract by cleaning or removing data.
  • Consider using an incremental refresh to limit resource usage.
  • Monitor resource utilization and consider adding resources (such as CPU and RAM) if necessary.
