Not All Custom Color Palettes Are Displayed in Tableau Desktop

Some custom color palettes might not populate the Color Palette dropdown menu as expected.

Cause

By design, with custom color palettes in Tableau Desktop, the type of palette that will appear in the Color Palette dropdown menu will depend on the type of field (continuous or discrete) being used on Color in the Marks card.
Ratkaisu
If a discrete field is used on the Color mark, the custom color palette type="regular" and type="ordered-sequential" will populate the 'Select Color Palette' dropdown menu.
 
If a continuous field is used on Color mark, the custom color palette type="ordered-sequential" and type="ordered-diverging" will populate the 'Palette' dropdown menu.
