Restore Fails With ‘This Job Failed Due To An Unexpected Error: 'filenotfoundexception' Could Not Find Config.yml In Backup’.

Description

When Restoring a *.tsbak file, the Restore fails due to an unexpected error:

 'FileNotFoundException' ... Could not find config.yml in backup".

Cause

config.yml is not present or Network Service account had 'access denied' to folders and files under 'ProgramData' where Tableau Server is installed.

Résolution

Option 1:
Create a new backup file in Tableau Server. Do not use the --no-config flag during backup file creation.

Option 2:
Confirm that Permissions have been set correctly for the Run As Service account and the Network Service account.
