Error "Setup Failed ... 0x80070003 - The system cannot find the path specified." When Attempting to Install Tableau Desktop on Windows OS

Описание

When attempting to install Tableau Desktop on Windows, the following error might occur:
 

Setup Failed
One or more issus caused the setup to fail. Please fix the issues and then retry setup. For more information see the log file. 
0x80070003 - The system cannot find the path specified.

 

Additionally, the following error can be found in the Installer logs:

'Failed to create cache directory'

 

Cause

The error 0x80070003 is related to the Operating System, something went wrong with the "Package Cache" folder.

 

Решение

Option 1

Confirm with your IT team that the folder "Package Cache" had been replaced with a shortcut named "Package Cache". Once the shortcut was deleted and a file with the same name created, the installation completed OK.

 

Option 2

Work with your IT team to ensure that both the Administrators Group and the specific User have 'Full Control' permissions to the C:\ProgramData\Package Cache file location. The try to run the Tableau Desktop installer as an Administrator.
