Error "Unable to map / parse JSON in configuration file" when importing settings using TSM

Description
When configuring Tableau Server using Tableau Services Manager (TSM) to import .json files with tsm settings import -f filename.json, one of the following errors may be displayed:
 
unable to map JSON in configuration file
unable to parse JSON in configuration file

Cause

Syntax errors in JSON cause this error message.
Résolution
Correct the syntax errors in the JSON file by using an online JSON syntax validator such as JSONlint.
