During execution of the rpm install ("sudo yum install tableau-server-<version>.x86_64.rpm"), a non-fatal error is observed:

/opt/tableau/tableau_server/packages/scripts.10500.18.0210.2209/after-install-common: line 293: install: command not found
warning: %post(tableau-server-10500.18.0210.2209-10500-18.0210.2209.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status 127
Non-fatal POSTIN scriptlet failure in rpm package tableau-server-10500.18.0210.2209-10500-18.0210.2209.x86_64

Then, when running "tsm initialize --start-server --request-timeout 1800, Tableau Server fails to start with the error message:

22% - Installing the maintenance app failed.

Later followed by:

Server initialization was unsuccessful.
See '/home/centos/.tableau/tsm/tsm.log' for more information.

Cause

The "install" command provided by the "coreutils" system package is missing from the path (usually expected in /usr/bin).
Ratkaisu
Reinstall the "coreutils" system package.
Lisäresurssit
  • To find out if the "install" command is in your path, run "which install". If no file is found, then it is missing.
  • To find out if coreutils is installed, grep for it in the installed packages. On CentOS, this is done by running "yum list installed | grep coreutils".
