DATE Function Returns NULL in Google Big Query

When using Google Big Query, the following type of DATE function DATE("1/1/1970") returns NULL. 
 

Cause:

Google BigQuery expects "YYYY-MM-DD" format as a date format.

Løsning
Use "-" instead of "/" as a separator. For example, DATE("1970-01-01").
