Error "Communication link failure;-10709 Connection failed (RTE:[89008] Socket closed by peer" Connecting to SAP HANA

When connecting to SAP HANA from Tableau Desktop, the following error occurs:

Communication link failure;-10709 faded (RTE: 89008 Socket closed by peer)

Cause

The wrong port might be used to connect to the database, or the port was not open.
 

Ratkaisu
  1. Verify that the port which SAP HANA is listening on is open to the Tableau Desktop machine. Typically the ports for SAP HANA use the following naming convention: 3<instance>15. For example, the default port is 30015.
  2. Verify the correct port number is specified in data source connection window in Tableau Desktop to connect to SAP HANA.
