Number Values Remain Rounded to the Nearest Whole Number After Changing the Data Type To Number (Decimal)

Publish Date: Apr 13, 2026
Description
After changing the data type on a field to Number (Decimal) from Number (Whole) on an extracted connection, and then either refreshing the extract or removing the extract; the data remains rounded up to the nearest whole number despite the data type showing as Number (Decimal).

Cause

When the data is saved in the extract as a number (whole), aka the actual values in the extract are rounded up to whole numbers, changing the data type will not change the values in the extract.
Resolution
On a live connection, re-select Number (Decimal) for the data type.

If there are many fields that need to be reset, then do the following:
  1. Create a new connection to the same data source in the same workbook.
  2. Ensure that the necessary measures are being imported as Number (Decimal).
    • For more information about changing the data type for a field, please see the "Change the data type for a field in the Data Source page" section of the following entry of the online Product Help guide: Data Type
  3. Extract the new data connection.
  4. Replace the old extract with the new extract.
    • For detailed directions on replacing data sources, see the following entry of the online Product Help guide: Replace Data Sources.
