Error Connecting to SharePoint Server With DavWWWRoot in Path Name

When publishing a workbook with a data source located on a SharePoint drive or another WebDav drive, the following error might occur: 


Unable to connect to the file
"\\subdomain.domain.com\DavWWWRoot\..."
Check that the file exists and that you have sufficient privileges for it.

Cause

The SharePoint Drive is an externally hosted drive that uses the WebDav protocol. Tableau is not able to interact directly with the WebDav protocol. 

 

Решение
  • Ensure that the Tableau Server Run As user can access the file through a share path.
  • Ensure that the Tableau Server Run As user has permissions to the file.
  • Work with your IT team to have the WebDAV service installed on all the Windows Server 2012 computers hosting Tableau Server. For more information, see How to configure and to troubleshoot mapped network drives that connect to SharePoint Online sites in Office 365 at Microsoft's Knowledge Base. 
    Note: Installing and enabling the WebClient service is outside the scope of Tableau Technical Support. 
  • Change the UNC path from \\subdomain.domain.com to \\subdomain\.  Using the fully qualified domain name versus the short name causes an auth challenge which Tableau Server cannot respond to, but the short name allows forwarding of the credentials.  
    Note: Ensure that SharePoint is configured to allow authentication forwarding.
  • It may be necessary to edit the registry of the computer running Tableau Server to allow authentication forwarding.  For more information, see Prompt for Credentials When Accessing FQDN Sites From a Windows Vista or Windows 7 Computer at Microsoft's Knowledge Base.  
    Note: Make a backup of the registry before you make any changes to it. Serious issues may occur if the registry is modified incorrectly. Troubleshooting Windows registry edits is outside the scope of Tableau Technical Support.
