Error "This file was created by a newer version of Tableau" Opening a Workbook or Data Source Downloaded from Tableau Cloud

When opening a workbook or data source downloaded from Tableau Cloud in Tableau Desktop, the following error might occur: 
 
This file was created by a newer version of Tableau. Please upgrade Tableau to the version (or greater) that the file was saved in.

Cause

Tableau Cloud has been upgraded, and files saved using web authoring in Tableau Cloud are no longer compatible with earlier versions of Tableau Desktop. 
Lösning

Option 1

Upgrade Tableau Desktop to the most recent version. For more information, see Upgrade Tableau Desktop.

Option 2 

If Option 1 is not a possibility, proceed to Option 2 or Option 3.

Download your workbook in an earlier version of Tableau. 
  1. Log into Tableau Cloud, select Content, Workbooks, and select the affected workbook. 
  2. Access one of the views within the workbook. 
  3. Select Download and then Tableau Workbook.
  4. From the Version drop-down menu, select the desired version. 
  5. Select Download. 

Option 3 

Download a prior revision of the workbook and republish the workbook.  
  1. Log into Tableau Cloud, select Content, Workbooks, and select the affected workbook. 
  2. At the workbook level select the Details tab and then View Revision History.... 
  3. Select the (...) menu option for a previous revision and select Download. 
  4. Open the workbook in Tableau Desktop and update the workbook as needed. 
  5. Republish and overwrite the existing workbook.
