Error "Could not connect to the server; A connection attempt failed..." Connecting to Tableau Server PostgreSQL Database

Data pubblicazione: Apr 22, 2025
Descrizione
When connecting to the Tableau Server PostgreSQL database from an instance of Tableau Desktop running on a different computer, the following error might occur:

Could not connect to the server; A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host failed to respond. [<IP address>:8060]

Cause

Firewall or network security settings often block port 8060, because this port is not commonly used.
Risoluzione
Work with your network administrator to ensure that the computers running Tableau Server and Tableau Desktop can communicate on port 8060.
Risorse aggiuntive
  • When Tableau Desktop is installed on the primary computer running Tableau Server, it is able to connect to the PostgreSQL database.
  • Settings in pg_hba.conf (and template) do not contribute to this issue. When this file is set incorrectly, error messages are different.
