When attempting to start Tableau Server after adding additional nodes, and using Core-based licensing, the following error might occur:
The total number of cores in the cluster running licensed processes is greater than the number of cores licensed via your product key(s).
Move any licensed processes off of the initial node, on to other nodes.
Contact your Account Representative to discuss additional licensing.
Note: If you have purchased Data Management, an additional license key with Resource Cores will have been provided for core-licensed environments that will allow a node to be dedicated to flows via the use of node roles. When configured correctly, the cores on this node will be counted against the Resource core key, instead of the original core key.
For more information on how to check the number of core-based licenses that you have, see Upgrading Tableau Server from User-Based to Core-Based Licensing.
