Web Page Object Linked to Local File Blank After Publishing

Description
When viewing a dashboard published with a web page object connected to a local html file, images might load in Internet Explorer but not in other browsers.

Cause

For security reasons, most browsers have cross-scheme restrictions that prevent an HTTP page from accessing a FILE page.
Resolution
Change the link to the web object from a network path to a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI). For example, a local path looks similar to the following: 
file://filesrv01/home/jdoe/example-document.html

A Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) looks like the following: 
http://tableau.domain.com/files/example-document.html
Additional Resources
Internet Explorer can access the local file under the following conditions:
  • The Active Directory user has network permissions to access the files.
  • The Tableau Server URL is added to the Intranet security zone or trusted sites.
